| Synchronism SAN Client for IP |
Allows the target operating system to access the authorized storage resources through an IP-based SCSI Host Bus Adapter driver. |
Server Option
| Product |
Description |
| Active-Active Failover Option |
Facilitates high availability. Automatic failover configuration uses two Synchronism Servers that can be configured to monitor each other's health. Should one Synchronism Server fail, the other automatically assumes the failed server's workload without operator intervention. |
| Synchronous Mirroring Option |
Protects against the consequences of storage device/channel failure by providing fast, synchronous fault-tolerance for storage volumes attached to the Synchronism Server. At the same time, data throughput is improved because Synchronism takes full advantage of the extra drive to improve read performance. The failure protection of RAID storage systems is greatly enhanced by Synchronism's ability to mirror across cabinets, even if they are from different vendors. Designed to satisfy the demand for non-stop, 24x7 operations, the mirroring option can be used to migrate data between disks with no downtime.
|
| Replication Option |
Allows fast remote data synchronization (FRDS) of storage volumes from one Synchronism Server to another over the IP network, for automated off-site data protection and disaster recovery. All replicated data is written to a reserved area and is only committed to the replica disk after all of the data from the primary server has been received, thereby guaranteeing the integrity and usability of the replicated data. This option integrates with the Snapshot Agents to ensure transactional integrity.
|
| NAS Option |
Allows shared access of files and folders stored on storage volumes via CIFS and/or NFS protocol, including support for NFS 3 and Samba 2.2. This is a quick and easy way to add general purpose, shareable storage space for users and groups from both Windows and Unix environments. |
| TimeMark™ Option |
For immediate recovery of files, records, or entire volumes lost to accidental deletion, corruption, viruses, hackers, etc., Synchronism's use of FalconStor®'s TimeMark™ Option enables administrators to create multiple, instantaneous point-in-time snapshot copies - "TimeMark™s" - of an active drive. TimeMark™s can be created automatically based on an administrator-defined schedule, for ease of use and high reliability. Administrators can then instantly recover individual files or volumes by mounting a TimeMark™ as an active volume by using the included TimeView™ feature. Can be combined with the Zero-Impact Backup Enabler Option to provide fast and comprehensive backups of live data in a 24x7 environment. TimeMark™ integrates with the application-specific Snapshot Agents to ensure transactional integrity and point-in-time consistency. |
| Storage Service Enabler Option |
Enables existing disks to make use of the full suite of Synchronism storage services, including Mirroring, Replication, Snapshot Copy, and TimeMark™. Original disk partitions/volumes are not changed; no data conversion or migration is necessary. |
| Snapshot Copy Option |
Creates an independent point-in-time copy of a storage volume on demand. This option integrates with the Snapshot Agents to ensure transactional integrity. |
IP Trunking Option
(for Synchronism Linux) |
Ensures constant data availability of Synchronism Server storage by pinpointing network bottlenecks and physical/logical faults and instantly rerouting network traffic around these faults. Peak performance is also enhanced by load balancing, the automatic distribution of Synchronism Server traffic among the server's storage paths. For use with IP/iSCSI and/or NAS storage. (Individual option license is needed for each Synchronism Server). |
Agents
| Product |
Description |
| Capacity-On-Demand Agent |
Monitors disk space consumption at the application server and proactively ensures constant availability of storage to sustain business operations. COD can free up disk space by compressing infrequently used files and/or relocating them to an overflow storage pool. If necessary, COD can expand the file system to meet the storage needs of the application in real time, without user intervention. |
| DynaPath™/FC Agent |
Ensures constant data availability across the SAN by creating parallel active storage paths that transparently reroute server traffic without interruption in the event of a storage network problem. Peak performance of the SAN is also enhanced by automatically distributing server traffic among the server's storage paths (load balancing). |
| DynaPath™/IP Agent (Windows and Linux) |
Ensures constant data availability across the network by intelligently pinpointing network bottlenecks and physical/logical faults and instantly rerouting network traffic around these faults. Peak performance is also enhanced by load balancing, the automatic distribution of server traffic among the server's storage paths. Remote management capabilities are provided through the web-based Enterprise Manager console, enabling administrators to view and graph detailed traffic statistics, monitor alerts and view the current status of any adapter or array on any server in the network. |
| SERVivor Agent (Windows NT/2000) |
Taking full advantage of Synchronism's Fibre Channel Target Mode support, along with its ability to support diskless servers, this agent makes it possible to have a hot-spare application server (diskless, and identical to the other servers) protecting a group of identical servers. When any one of the application servers fail, Synchronism re-assigns the boot image, along with all of the associated logical drives, from the failed server to the spare server, thereby achieving high availability at the application server level. |

NIC Express
| Product |
Description |
| NIC Express (Windows and Linux) |
Provides advanced failover and load balancing functionality for any server or workstation on the network. NIC Express intelligently re-routes data traffic to another NIC in the event that a fault is detected in the path of the primary NIC. This creates redundant data paths and enables companies to build end-to-end fault tolerant networks. NIC Express also offers load balancing of traffic across an array of two or more network connections to boost bandwidth. |
| NIC Express Enterprise Manager |
Allows for centralized management via a web-based management console of all servers running NIC Express. Enables administrators to view and graph detailed traffic statistics, monitor alerts, and view the current status of any adapter or array on any server in the network. |
| NIC Express Enterprise (Windows and Linux) |
Provides LANs with enterprise-level, end-to-end network availability by creating redundant data paths between all network server and workstation endpoints. The software works by placing NIC Express agents at key systems around the edge of the network to monitor network traffic as data passes between servers and workstations. NIC Express agents accurately pinpoint the nature and location of network bottlenecks, physical faults and logical faults and instantly reroutes traffic around the faults with near-zero packet loss. Remote management capabilities are provided through the web-based Enterprise Manager console. |
